The rooster and the hen have been represented as majestic, strong, aggressive creatures.  Emerging sculptor, Salazar, has elevated them to a higher status.  His motive behind stylizing the sculptures is partly to convince the viewer to believe a false reality, romanticizing the power of a domestic creature. In his Chick series, the offspring of this pair are so evocative of spring, youth, beauty, fertility that, even when rendered in the grotesque, this image is preserved.

Limited-edition sculpture custom-cast in bronze from 2007 Emanuel Hahn Award recipient.
